Accounting

Hey! I’m Stefan. I graduated from Bachelor of Commerce in the University of Melbourne with majors in Accounting and Management. Currently I am working as a consultant in a Big4 firm. My background is primarily in accounting and I had the opportunity to work in financial audit in two different Big4 firms in Europe, as well as here in Australia. I am also completing my CA (chartered accountant course), which is an internationally recognised certification that allows you to practice accounting globally.

In addition to my work and study, I do like to keep up my hobbies and juggle personal life. I love travelling around the world and have done a fair share of that. Road trips and hiking are also on my list of favourites. I do enjoy watching Netflix, going out with friends and trying new things.

It is now 6 years since I finished VCE. One of the subjects I studied in both year 11 and 12 was accounting. Being where I am now, I can most definitely tell you that accounting is not just about your debits and credits, but to get anywhere further, those fundamentals covered so extensively in VCE are an absolute must know. I understand it’s not very easy to see where a career in accounting might lead, but the opportunities are endless. I can help you beyond your VCE studies by bringing real life Big4/industry examples and insights and show you how your learnings fit in with the big picture. If your aim is to do commerce/accounting in university, as someone who has finished and very much enjoyed commerce at Melbourne Uni, I’ll be more than happy to assist you with any queries you might have on that. If you are serious about chasing those professional services as a career, many firms offer opportunities from as early as Year 12, which is also something I can give guidance about. Accounting isn’t just about a boring desk job, it’s an ocean of opportunities and in my view, 50% is skills and the other 50 (if not more) is networking. I can help you navigate both of those as part of your accounting tutor.

Stefan graduated from University High School in 2014 and has since graduated from a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne and achieved merit in the financial accounting unit of CA. Stefan currently works in Management Consulting and is excited about inspiring the next generation of accounting students. In his spare time, he enjoys travel, photography and hiking.
