Hi! My name is Oliver and I intend to learn and teach all things history and humanities. I am looking to study international politics as well as history at Melbourne University in 2019.

Throughout my time in year 12, I always felt somewhat overshadowed by students doing high-scaling languages and a horrifying combination of maths and science vital to score a high atar and get them into university. However, with a knack for writing and humanities, it is just as possible to score well without doing dreaded permutations of STEM. If you’re looking to score highly on your atar and have a keen interest in history, geography, politics, and English, I am determined to achieve even better for you than I did myself.

My school granted me the necessary writing skills that are imperative to scoring well in subjects like these. It is definitely possible to get into your dream university with a score that leaves you well above the competition, even if your subject choices don’t scale up 15 points and require a deal with the devil to survive. I have coached many of my friends throughout year 12 on subjects similar to and including the ones I chose, and have developed many skills that I wish to pass on to dedicated and committed students of humanities.

Other than being a total history nerd, I absolutely love playing soccer whenever I get a chance, and I am an avid chess player as well. I never pass up an opportunity to have fun with my friends and I love meeting new people and getting to know them.

Oliver graduated from Haileybury College in 2018 and is planning to study politics and international relations, history, and French at the University of Melbourne. Previously vice-captain of house and chess captain, Oliver values a balanced approach to academics - being a keen chess and soccer fan himself.
