Felix Geake-Ransome
Hi there, I’m Felix! I graduated in 2018 from Haileybury College and this year I’m studying an Arts/Law degree at Melbourne University.
My time at school was coloured by the diversity of my involvement in school life: while I was a keen academic, my busy but balanced experience of secondary education was characterised by regular hikes, debates and music performances (I’m an avid trumpet player). I believe the result I achieved is due to my capacity for planning, organisation and results analysis – these are skills I can help you develop as you navigate what can be an extraordinarily busy and frenetic period.
What I offer you as a tutor is a detailed understanding of exam (and importantly SAC) strategy and technique. The real skill in many VCE subjects is in interpreting the questions really clearly, recognising precisely the information you are being asked to provide, and identifying the angle that allows you to show off your abilities best.
Importantly, my genuine and longstanding love of reading has given me an expansive and colourful vocabulary that has helped me regularly put my work above the rest. I can help you do the same, bringing your analyses in Global Politics and English to the next level with better use of language and phrasing. Not being a native French speaker has advantages, as this actually helps me bring to the table a detailed knowledge of French grammar and exam technique – both oral and written. I bring a broad perspective on how you might prepare for and excel in the oral examination – a medium many find offputting.
I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to meet interesting students who take their learning and their future seriously. Equally, I don't want to stop learning, and in teaching others, there is always something to be learnt.
Felix graduated in 2018 as vice-captain of Haileybury College and is now studying the Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne, majoring in Economics and International Studies/Politics. His incredibly balanced approach to academics played a large role in his success and he hopes to continue this approach on his journey to earn the prestigous Juris Doctor. In the future Felix, plans on working in corporate law whilst also engaging in philanthropy - particularly related to education, so that others may be given the same opportunities as he.
