VCE: Mathematical Methods | Specialist Mathematics

Hi! My name is Ethan Husband, and I’m tutoring Specialist Mathematics and Mathematical Methods.

First, a bit about me. I love learning about maths and science, even just from textbooks or websites. It keeps you busy and feels productive at the same time - and also keeps me from wasting hours watching Sidemen videos on Youtube. Outside of learning, I also enjoy playing chess (a hobby I, like many of us, picked up during 2020 lockdown). However, I’m not always nerdy! I also really enjoy exploring and getting out in nature.

I am passionate about meeting people as well as understanding and hearing their stories. This means that I’m keen to not only be a tutor, but also an empathic mentor! I was someone who really struggled with maths at a younger age, and was continually sitting ‘somewhere in the middle of the pack’ throughout middle school.

Having built my way up, and now being able to excel at the subject, I understand more than most the struggles and frustration people experience with maths. However, I also know what works to overcome that frustration and avoid common setbacks, and how to develop a concrete understanding of what seems, at the most difficult of times, impossible. I want to show students that they can also achieve their personal best, and conquer any subject that they set their minds to!

Ethan graduated from Kingswood College in 2020, earning a cohort-best ATAR of 99.30. Transitioning from overcoming his own mathematical difficulties in primary school, Ethan helped guide his peers through VCE Maths, even teaching classes during Year 12. As such, his skill, experience and understanding makes him perfect to help students struggling with VCE Maths. Currently taking a Bachelor of Science at The University of Melbourne, Ethan hopes to work within AI development in the future.
