Hey everyone! My name is Desmond and I graduated from Haileybury College in 2020. Having been through the ups and downs of schooling, I can say for sure that it’s very important to ask for help in times of need. All the pressures of studying can definitely be very daunting at times, so I want to be here to alleviate some of that stress with effective study methods and support.

Having binged (too) much Netflix during my own VCE journey, I must say that a study-life balance is the most important concept to grasp. Handling study commitments alongside my own personal hobbies, on top of sport and leadership duties, was only possible due to proper organisation.

Creating study plans and schedules really helped me with my subjects. As a tutor I hope to be able to assist with time management in addition to teaching. With the right preparation, I hope that it will become easier and easier to study effectively, so that you can binge your favourite show like I did for Rick and Morty (rewatched 3 times)!

Desmond graduated from Haileybury College in 2020 with an ATAR of 99.20, receiving the school’s Magna Cum Laude Award for general studies. His own VCE tutors meant he could balance his extracurricular activities, acting as Haileybury’s squash captain and playing guitar and piano, with a successful study routine. Desmond has become a tutor to help current VCE students do the same, encouraging consistent academic motivation and practical study schedules. He currently studies Biomedicine at Monash University.
